History
The Oak Lake & District Museum Incorporated was created in July 2001.  The museum is located at 396 Aspen St. East in the Town of Oak Lake in the former St. Athanasuis Roman Catholic Church building and in the former St. Davids United Church building, which was re-located from its original site approximately 8 miles north of town.  The acquisition of building and titles of property, of Articles of Incorporation of conditional use orders, and the designation of being a charitable organization was completed by year end of 2002.

The re-loaction and initial steps in preparation for occupancy of the St. David's building was the focus of our work during 2003.  Required repairs and renovations of both buildings have been identified and will proceed throughout the warm weather months in 2004 and 2005.  Our vision was to begin accepting artifacts for our museum in late 2005, and to officially open our museum by the spring of 2006.  The official opening was held on July 23rd, 2006 in conjunction with the official opening of the Oak Lake Garden Park.

Goals and Objectives
The Oak Lake & District Museum Incorporated will collect, preserve, display, and research artifacts and documents which reflect the history of the area. This will include the Oak Lake Island Resort, Griswold, Sioux Valley First Nations Reserve, and the adjacent farmlands of the Rural Municipalities of Sifton, Whitehead, and Woodworth.
