The Oak Lake & Area Foundation became incorporated in 1999 as a non- profit registered charity and received its charitable donation number shortly thereafter.  On May 11, 2000 the reins of the Foundation were turned over to the first board of directors.
The Community Foundation pools the charitable gifts in a capital fund for the purpose of using the investment revenue to better the quality of life in our community and surrounding area.  The Oak Lake & Area Foundation includes the Town of Oak Lake, the Municipality of Sifton, the Southern half of Woodworth Municipality including Kenton, the Western half of Municipality of Whitehead including Alexander and Sioux Valley.  All donations are retained as capital and the generated earnings are used each year for target areas of need as determined by our grant applications.
The Foundation grows through the generosity of many donors, both large and small.  Different levels of donations can be made, although any amount is greatly appreciated.  Additional recognition is given to contributors of specific amounts, $1 - $999 are Friends of the Foundation, $1000 to $4999 are Founders Club Members and over $5000 are Heritage Club Members.

Mission Statement

The mission of the Oak Lake and Area Foundation is to provide a wide range of cultural, educational, health, environmental, recreational, heritage and community service to the people within our area.
